This intellectual error hence prevents Othello from considering clearly regarding his better half after Iago has planted the idea that Desdemona has been unfaithful to him. Furthermore, “The Fall of Othello, ” John Arthos notes, “Othello fell in to chaos prior to murder was done” (95). Othello’s misunderstandings is noticeable as he tells Iago, “I think my spouse be honest and think the girl with not; /I think that thou art simply and believe thou skill not (Shakespeare 3. three or more. 385-386). Iago manipulates Othello into trusting women cannot be trusted based on his personal prejudices against them. Iago, in a discussion with his partner Emilia says that women “are pictures out of doors, /Bells within your parlours, wild-cats in your the kitchen, /Saints in the injuries, demons being genuinely offended, /Players inside your housewifery, and housewives inside your beds” (2. 1 . 111-114).
Iago further exploits Othello’s uncertainties about Desdemona until he ultimately convinces him that he or she must kill Desdemona for her “infidelity. ” After Desdemona accidentally loses a handkerchief, which in turn Othello later claims can be enchanted, the lady puts himself in a position that raises the utmost suspicion, and irrevocably shifts how Othello perceives his wife. While Desdemona is definitely continuously chastised without purpose, she can easily defend their self by saying “I have not deserved this kind of, ” as she is by no means given the right forum to voice her concerns or perhaps explain very little (4. 1 ) 252). Desdemona becomes one of Iago’s targets because he would not respect women and thus is convinced that they should be manipulated because they manipulate other folks. Desdemona was never able to establish her the case identity with Othello because she has not been allowed to as a result of both his stubbornness plus the lies Iago fed him. Ultimately, Iago is able to efficiently convince Othello that Desdemona has been disloyal, and is truly encouraged simply by his “loyal” friend to murder Desdemona when the lady cannot create the handkerchief. Iago advises, “Do it not with poison, strangle her in her bed, even/the bed she hath polluted, ” which will Othello agrees upon (4. 1 . 197-198).
Othello understands too late that he continues to be manipulated simply by Iago and has had his love pertaining to Desdemona exploited. Othello laments he was “one not quickly jealous; although being wrought/Perplex’d in the extreme” (5. 2 . 395). Othello put his trust in the main one person who cannot and should not need been trustworthy, Iago, and disregarded his instincts like a military head and spouse. In the end, Iago has not just successfully used everything away from Othello, but has also misplaced everything he had including his wife and friends, in the futile try to be an individual he can never always be.
