I had been sitting in the doctor’s office this morning awaiting my appointment, thinking about what current celebration I could select that would range from the 6 sociological concepts. I used to be at a loss. Syria crossed my mind. Obama attention was a thought. But my own answer was lying around the coffee desk beside me personally with a Sports activities Illustrated cover and the picture of a football phenom using a number 2 hat emblazoning his torso and wearing his Texas A&M helmet. We picked up the magazine and located the article on-page 26 and started to browse.

Johnny Manziel, or Ashton Football when he is so affectionately known, and has branded the term in addition, is a 19 year old sophomore quarterback intended for Texas A&M University. The content which I research is authored by Andy Staples from Athletics Illustrated. The article goes into superb detail about the challenges of Manziel in dealing with his fame gained from staying the 1st freshman QB ever to become awarded the Heisman Trophy.

According to Henslin the sociological development of actuality and how that applies from this situation is that college sports had by no means experienced a freshman awardee of the Heisman trophy. For starters he is a great under classman with several more years of eligibility, and is also also a small under the regarding 21. Usually a Heisman trophy winner accepts the trophy with the Waldorf Astoria and enters the NFL draft that year and not having to deal with the social rules and guidelines of the NCAA. Quite frankly the NCAA rules are so strict that they lessen a person of that era from having any sort of your life other than the game for which they agreed to enjoy.

Immediately after hearing his name called at the Waldorf Astoria last January, Johnny Football’s life transformed. He was will no longer an 18 year old young man from Killeen, Texas. He became a great overnight superstar with more supporters than he could ever desire and enormous wealth for his disposal and ready access to improved media overview. Basically he jumped various rungs within the social stratification ladder the minute he lifted the trophy above his head. This is where the NCAA rules of this story enter into play. The NCAA sets the rules/laws of all collegiate athletes and universities.

This is the social control that the NCAA maintains above its subordinates, trying to keep structure within the ranks preventing players coming from profiting from their status while premier sports athletes. If an athlete is playing a sport pertaining to an NCAA governed university, that sportsperson has to follow the rules laid out under the NCAA. Johnny Football’s new found popularity and lifestyle in the social media spotlight is exactly what has lead him, and his parents, to trademark the “Johnny Football name in order for the relatives to cash in on his notoriety. Trademarking call him by his name and profiting from this celebrity as a collegiate athlete is considered a deviant behavior and it is against the NCAA rules. Johnny Football was penalized this past weekend by the NCAA to make to stay out the 1st half of the time opening game as treatment for violating NCAA rules.

As I pointed out previously, Johnny Football can be 19 years of age. He attained overnight fame by earning the Heisman trophy, and with that fame came enticement, and thanks to the social media outlets such as FACEBOOK OR MYSPACE, TWITTER and INSTAGRAM, Johnny has been captured on several occasions drinking underage and breaking laws and regulations. He even recently got a auto parking ticket intended for parking intend to, his car facing the wrong way on a one of the ways street. The Johnny Soccer story has just began to be crafted, but previously is a traditional example of environmental sociology. He could be becoming a beast of the environment of celebrity and fortune and the irony is that the NCAA placed him in the environment without lawyer and to fend for himself. References
