In my dissertation, I will be analyzing the concept of the relationships into His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell and Valentine by Carol Anne Duffy. I will reveal the poems themes’, suggestions, structure and linguistic devices. I will compare each composition, then offer my opinion on my favourite and why. Claire Marvell composed his poem, To His Coy Mistress in the 16th century. The poem offers three stanzas and is crafted in rhyming couplets. It can be about a man who is in a rush to have sexual activity with his mistress.

He is tempted by her beauty and wants to get pleasure from her beauty before the period is over. This individual presents a familiar theme in literature ” carpe diem (meaning seize the day), he uses this as he tries to seduce a woman and declare his love on her, while your woman his self conscious and cautious, he attempts to persuade her to think that they must benefit from the moment.
